MONTREAL — The Swedes and Canadians shut out their opponents at the 2025 IIHF World Championship on Saturday at Avicii Arena.

Here’s a brief summary of the games:

FRANCE 0 – SWEDEN 4

Samuel Ersson made 15 saves for the Swedes in a dominant win over the French.

Heineman gave the co-host nation a 2-0 lead in the first period with a perfect shot that beat goaltender Antoine Keller. It was his first goal of the tournament.

With a time on ice of 9:33, the Habs forward finished the game with two shots on goal and a plus-1 differential.

Lucas Raymond, Elias Lindholm and Isac Lundestrom completed the scoring.

CANADA 7 – SLOVAKIA 0

The Red and White scored an easy ‘W’ with goals from Brandon Montour, Tyson Foerster, Sidney Crosby (2), Macklin Celebrini and Nathan MacKinnon (2). Jordan Binnington got the shutout after turning away 14 shots.

Matheson collected a pair of assists on Celebrini and MacKinnon’s second-period tallies. The veteran defenseman logged 16:55 of ice time, while registering one shot and a plus-1 differential.

What’s next?

After being named player of the game for Austria on Friday, Habs prospect Vinzenz Rohrer will look to keep the momentum high when his country takes on Slovenia at Avicii Arena on Sunday. Game time is scheduled for 10:20 a.m. ET.
